And THIS, is Naked News! Question for you Alana, do you enjoy going to see concerts? Now this may sound odd, but do you ever consider the impact that a touring band has on the environment? I don’t think it’s really something most people think about, but then again, most people aren’t Chris Martin from the band Coldplay.

Coldplay isn’t playing around when it comes to global warming. Literally! Their latest album ‘Everyday Life’ was recently released, but in an interview with the BBC, frontman Chris Martin explained why there might be a bit of a wait for the tour! Well, I hope it works out for them. And if they reverse global warming, good news for all the people who’d only see Coldplay when Hell freezes over!
At the other end of the spectrum, Guns N’ Roses ‘Not in This Lifetime Tour ‘ probably did a lot of environmental damage… and definitely netted the band a lot of coin! In over three years and 158 concerts, the band sold roughly FIVE-POINT-FOUR MILLION tickets and brought in FIVE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FOUR MILLION dollars. That would make the six-continent tour the third-highest-grossing in Billboard Boxscore history. I’d say that G N’ R has earned some R & R in whatever Paradise City they choose!
Ozzy Osbourne has obviously crammed a lot of living into his time on this planet, but he’s still experiencing new things. Case in point: his new single “Under the Graveyard” has provided the Prince of Darkness with his first appearance in the Billboard Hot Rocks Songs top five! Admittedly, that particular chart launched in 2009, so it’s not really a fair measure… but all’s well that ends Ozzy!
Celine Dion, of course, is someone who’s owned the charts a lot, but her new album Courage has put her back on them in two major ways! That LP launched at Number 1 on the Billboard 200, her first leader on that chart since 2002, marking the longest-ever gap for a female artist! AND it put her personally at Number 1 on the Billboard Artist 100. That index combines factors including sales, radio play, and streaming to determine an artist’s popularity.
Of course, one thing Celine won’t be is Billboard’s 2019 Woman of the Year. That honor is going to Billie Eilish. But she’s not the only big star who’ll be at Billboard’s Women in Music event on December 12th. Alanis Morissette will be named an Icon, Nicki Minaj a Game Changer, Brandi Carlile a Trailblazer… and Taylor Swift will be named Woman of the DECADE!
