Where is your home base these days? For those of you who don’t know, we met Amanda when she was working with Luxury Lifestyle Vacations. So any craziness in your life now or have you settled into your own version of normal? Well it’s amazing to have you back. So, obviously, you had to travel to get here. Were there any worries about breathing other people’s air in the plane, with this whole coronavirus thing going on? Well, the Covid-19 coronavirus is continuing to spread, with Italy seeing the most new cases in Europe. Eila’s in the newsroom with the latest.
Parts of Italy have implemented sweeping measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus. This after more than two hundred new cases were confirmed in the country over the weekend. The affected areas have banned public events, closed public buildings and museums, and shut down schools. Even the popular Venice Carnival was wrapped up two days early. Authorities have also quarantined several towns, blocking people from entering or leaving. They even cancelled soccer games, so you KNOW they’re serious!
There’s finally been a settlement in the Wells Fargo, fake account scandal. The bank will pay three BILLION dollars for its actions, which included creating as many as three and a half million fake accounts, collecting millions in dodgy fees, and using client information inappropriately. Clearly, regulators took this all very seriously. The bank’s former CEO has already been ordered to PERSONALLY pay over seventeen million dollars for his role in the scandal!
And New Mexico’s attorney general has filed a lawsuit against Google, alleging that the company is SPYING in schools via its Google Education platform! The suit claims students are being monitored, quote, “at school, at home, on mobile devices, without their knowledge and without the permission of their parents”, by collecting and keeping location and usage data. Google denies the claims, saying they’re “factually wrong”. To which I say…. why would Big Brother lie?! Don’t go away!
