Happy Monday, one and all, and welcome to Naked News. I’m Eila Adams, and I hope you’re thirsty, because joining me today is Charrdonnay Young! Welcome to the program! Well, it’s a pleasure to have you here and we look forward to getting to know you better all week. And we can start with movies, are you a Netflix and chill kinda gall or do you like going to the theater? Well to kick off today’s program we have our twice weekly feature called NAKED At the Movies, and as Marina is about to explain, there is plenty to make film buffs happy, including a couple big reboots!

This planet is once again going to the apes! Fox has given the greenlight to Wes Ball, the man behind the Maze Runner films, to develop a new Planet of the Apes movie! It’s still a little unclear whether this is a complete reboot or a continuation of the most recent reboot… or maybe somehow even a sequel to the originals! But this IS one of the first of Fox’s big properties to get reworked since the studio was acquired by Disney, so no matter what, expect some serious monkey business!

And because there are truly NO new ideas, here’s another reboot for you: Warner Brothers is remaking The Fugitive! Which was of course a 1993 movie based on a 1963 TV series, which is also being remade as a short-form series for Quibi! But I digress… The movie reboot will be directed by Albert Hughes, who most recently directed the movie Alpha and is also known for The Book of Eli. We’ll see what happens, but it’s certainly promising news for one-armed actors!

Adam Sandler has made some stinkers in his day, but his next bad movie might be on purpose! During a recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, he expressed his Oscar hopes for his performance in Uncut Gems. Presumably joking, he said if he didn’t get a nomination, quote, “I’m going to fucking come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay.” Hope you were paying attention, Academy… SAVE US!

Of course, it might not be so ludicrous. The National Board of Review has named its honorees for 2019, and it DID name Adam Sandler its Best Actor! Best Actress went to Renee Zellweger for Judy, and Quentin Tarantino was recognized as Best Director for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood! However, the biggest honors went to The Irishman. Not only was it deemed 2019’s Best Picture, the inaugural Icon Award went to Martin Scorsese, Robert De Niro and Al Pacino!

There were a lot of great trailers to pick from this week, but there was one the whole world BONDED over! The ‘No Time To Die’ trailer quickly became the Number One Trending Video on YouTube, and we were thoroughly reminded why it was so essential for Daniel Craig to be 007 one last time! I’m still looking forward to being a Bond Girl someday… but I’m officially bummed it won’t be with Daniel Craig. Ah well, at least I’ll get to watch No Time To Die when it hits theaters in April. I’m Marina Valmont, and I’ll see you next time, Naked at the Movies.
