Welcome to another great week here at Naked News, I’m Isabella Rossini. We’re back from our holiday on Monday and we’re STILL digging out from the almost two feet of snow we’ve received over the last few days. Your sympathies are welcome. Let’s get to the news!
Did all that snow we received have anything to do with a Delta flight that crash landing at Toronto’s Pearson Airport on Monday afternoon? No one knows for sure just yet, but the investigation has begun. Eighty people are lucky to be alive after the plane, arriving from Minneapolis, crashed upon landing and ended up upside down, with no wings. Video shows the plane landing hard before bursting into flames and flipping over in a cloud of black smoke. The passengers were quickly evacuated, and ultimately only eighteen injuries were reported, 3 seriously. The runway at the time was clear of snow but it was very windy, which can be a challenge for pilots.
In other news, LG is recalling about a half-MILLION of its electric ranges! The issue is that the front-mounted knobs on some models can be turned accidentally, including by pets, causing fires. The Consumer Product Safety Commission says it’s received nearly ninety reports of this happening, with at least twenty-eight fires being reported. The affected stoves were sold between 2015 and this past January at major retailers nationwide. You can see if YOURS is affected by going to CPSC.gov/recalls and searching for “oven”.
And Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum is threatening to SUE Google over its decision to change the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America in its maps! U.S. President Donald Trump recently decreed the name change, and Google says it has a “long-standing practice of applying name changes when they have been updated in official government sources”. But Mexico says Google’s policy violates Mexican sovereignty, as the country has jurisdiction over forty-nine percent of the Gulf, versus only forty-six percent for the U.S. “to be continued!”
