Like many movie franchises, the Karate Kid seemed to be a case of diminishing returns heading towards an inevitable fadeaway. But somehow, against all odds, the TV series Cobra Kai revived it! Suddenly, that world had depth and a wide array of characters we were invested in. And now, with the final part of the final season being released, we get to see how it all ends!
I wouldn’t be surprised if we get more from the Karate Kid universe – including a rumored Mr. Miyagi prequel series – but if this is the end for Johnny Lawrence, it’s been a hell of a ride! Cobra Kai, Season 6, Part 3 begins streaming Thursday on Netflix.
At the risk of saying something really obvious, do NOT start watching Yellowjackets at Season 3. You have to start at the beginning… and personally, I’d recommend rewatching at least last season’s finale before starting this new season! This story about a high school soccer team that survives a plane crash, told in the past and the present and abounding with mysteries, has a LOT going on – and that’s just part of what makes it so great!
I’m not considering this TOO much of a spoiler, since it was in the trailer… but I’m very excited to see that Hilary Swank has joined the cast! Can’t wait to see who she plays! The first two episodes of Yellowjackets’ third season stream Friday on Paramount+), with subsequent episodes dropping weekly.
The White Lotus is ANOTHER returning series, but unlike with the other two series I’ve shared, its seasons are pretty stand-alone. So, if you’re inclined to start your travels at The White Lotus: Thailand, I wouldn’t blame you. Particularly given the absolutely stacked cast!
